Positive: The location is good as you can easily get to the metro and around the city. It was a quieter neighborhood, so the apartment was quiet. The air conditioning was very nice as it was quite hot. At the start of the trip, the owner was very quick to respond and allow us to come and drop our bags off early. There is a lot of space and it was handy having the bedroom separated with a glass door from the kitchen. The bed was comfortable and well put together. The fridge was clean. And sink/toilet were clean.
Negative: The stove-top, toaster, dish rack, coffee maker, and some of the dishes were not entirely clean. The cutlery drawer had mismatching pieces in it that were just thrown in. The scissors had oil on them and didn’t work very well. There were no hand towels or tea towels provided, so we needed to buy paper towels to dry dishes or dry our hands. Nor was there a bath mat. There was only one working light in the bathroom - the other two were burnt out., and walls around door and toilet needed a good scrub. Overall, the place needs a thorough clean in between visitors. The advertisement also indicated there was a hot tub, but when I sent a message to the owner on Saturday morning, asking for the location of the hot tub and if there were tea towels or extra towels available, I didn’t get a response. We paid $750 (including tax and fees) for three nights and I was expecting a higher standard of cleanliness and overall put togetherness to the place for that money.
Summary: Good location and spacious, but needs a good clean and more thought to details like tea towels and general upkeep.

Negative: The drier was not working. However the owner made it good in the next day.

Positive: Location very convenient for the area we wished to visit. Everything was spotlessly clean. Wifi worked well. Coffee maker, filters, body wash, shampoo were supplied. The price was cheaper than hotels seem to be these days. With its full kitchen and washer/dryer, as well as a small desk and office chair, this would be suitable for someone who needed to stay longer and work in the west end. And who has younger knees than mine.
Negative: Check in instructions arrived only the morning of arrival. Maybe this is normal but it provoked anxiety. Then the door code did not work. Someone came (promptly! Thank you!) with tools to take the mechanism apart and recode it. This was apparently a known problem. Hard to figure out how to turn up the heat. It was not clear that it was on second floor with an outside staircase, not the best arrangement at our age.
Summary: A bit spartan, adequate for the money; few other Ville Emard options
